About Gay Courter
Gay Courter (born October 1, 1944) is an American novelist and author known for her best-selling novels and non-fiction works. Some of her popular works include The Midwife, Code Ezra, and Flowers in the Blood. In collaboration with Pat Gaudette, she co-wrote How To Survive Your Husband’s Mid-Life Crisis in 2003.
Courter graduated from Antioch College in 1966 and initially worked as a freelance screenwriter before publishing her debut work, The Beansprout Book, in 1973.
In 1995, she received a Pulitzer Prize nomination for her non-fiction work I Speak for this Child: True Stories of a Child Advocate. Courter grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she later married Phillip in the late 1960s.
