About Gail Sheehy
Gail Sheehy (born November 27, 1937) is a popular American non-fiction author and journalist. Her most notable works include biographies of Margaret Thatcher, Anwar Sadat, and Mikhail Gorbachev. She gained widespread recognition for her bestselling work, “Passages,” which delves into the internal and external journeys and losses of adulthood.
She attended the University of Vermont in the 1950s before earning a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University. Early in her career, she made waves with her journalistic exposé “The Secret of Grey Gardens,” focusing on the lives of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis‘ family members.
Sheehy was born in New York and grew up in Mamaroneck as the daughter of Lillian and Harold Henion. In 1984, she married famous editor Clay Felker, with whom she adopted a Cambodian child.
