Funke Akindele, born on August 24, 1976 in Ikorodu, Nigeria, is a renowned movie actress known for her work in African cinema. She garnered acclaim for her portrayal of Omolayo in the Aje Metta film series and received an Africa Movie Academy Award. Akindele gained further recognition through her leading role in the Nigerian TV show I Need to Know.
Prior to her acting career, she graduated from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic University and later pursued a law degree at the University of Lagos. In 2011, she starred as the lead character in the Nigerian film Maami.
Born as Akindele Olufunke Ayotunde, she spent her upbringing within Nigeria’s Lagos State and was previously married to Kehinde Oloyede from 2012 until 2013.
