About Frances Xavier Cabrini
Frances Xavier Cabrini, born on July 15, 1850 in Italy, was an Italian nun and religious leader. She is also known as Mother Cabrini for her role in founding the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart. Notably, the organization provided relief and support to Italian-American immigrants.
Cabrini’s significant contribution led to her becoming the first American to be canonized by the Roman Catholic Church. Prior to her fame, she faced health challenges since birth as she was born prematurely and continued to suffer from frail health throughout her life.
In 1946, she was made the patron saint of immigrants for her remarkable work. Frances’ family consisted of parents Stella Oldini and Agostino Cabrini along with ten siblings.
