About Florence Ryerson
Florence Ryerson (September 20, 1892) was a screenwriter born in California. She is best known for writing the timeless 1939 MGM classic, The Wizard of Oz. Additionally, she penned the acclaimed 1940 novel Glamour Preferred, Harriet, and Strange Bedfellows.
Prior to her success in the film industry, Ryerson submitted short stories to various publications. Notably, she joined Paramount Pictures in 1926 and began writing scripts for silent films. Throughout her life and career, she was married to husband Colin Clements until her passing.
