About Florence Green
Florence Green was born on February 19, 1901 in England. She is known for her participation in the Women’s Royal Air Force during World War I and also gained fame as a supercentenarian, passing away just two weeks shy of her 111th birthday.
Enlisting in the Women’s Royal Air Force at the young age of seventeen, she never imagined that nearly a century later she would be recognized as the oldest living World War I veteran.
At the time of her death, Florence Green was one of ten supercentenarians alive in Great Britain. She enjoyed a nearly six-decade marriage to Walter Green, who served in the military and worked for the railroad. They had two daughters named May and June, as well as a son named Bob.
