About Fanny Allen
Fanny Allen, born on November 13, 1784, in Vermont, was an American nurse and the first woman from New England to become a Catholic nun. She received her education at Middlebury Seminary but did not show strong religious inclinations initially. It was during her time in Montreal that she pursued knowledge about the Catholic faith.
At the age of twelve, Allen had a mystical experience that greatly influenced her decision to join the Catholic faith. Her father was Ethan Allen, a Revolutionary War General who passed away when she was just four years old. As a result, Fanny was raised by her mother and step-father.
