Fani Chalkia, born on February 2, 1979 in Greece, is a former hurdler renowned for her achievements in athletics. She rose to prominence after securing the gold medal in the women’s 400m hurdles at the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics. Her success continued with a silver medal at the 2006 Gothenburg European Championships.
Chalkia faced controversy when she tested positive for methyltrienolone during the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics despite denying any involvement. Consequently, she was banned by the IAAF for two years starting from December 2008.
