Evelyn Nesbit (born December 25, 1884 in Pennsylvania) was a prominent American model and actress of the early 20th century. She is best remembered for her involvement in “The Trial of the Century,” which followed the 1906 murder of her lover, architect Stanford White, by her husband Harry Kendall Thaw.
Nesbit first gained fame as a model for artists such as Dana Gibson, Frederick S. Church, and James Carroll Beckwith. By the early 1900s, she had become one of the most popular models in New York City and graced the covers of fashion magazines like Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, and Cosmopolitan. Additionally, she showcased her acting talents on Broadway in The Wild Rose.
