Evelyn Laye was an English actress born on July 10, 1900, in England. She is known for her work as a movie actress and appeared in notable films such as The Luck of the Navy, One Heavenly Night, and Say Hello to Yesterday.
In 1973, she was honored with an Order of the British Empire for her services to drama.
Before gaining fame, Laye made her stage debut in a Theatre Royal production of Mr. Wu in 1915. Throughout her career, she appeared in numerous London productions including Going Up and Phi-Phi.
Laye married Frank Lawton in 1934 which marked her second marriage.
