Esperanza Baur was a Mexican movie actress, born on January 1, 1924. She is best known for her tumultuous marriage to actor John Wayne. The couple met in 1941 while Wayne was visiting Mexico and married in Long Beach, California in 1946.
Baur appeared in several films including “The Count of Monte Cristo” (1942) and “Guadalajara” (1943). She also portrayed roles such as Hortensia Robles in the 1937 film “Jalisco Nunca Pierde” and Valentina in the 1938 film “La Valentina”.
