Erin Matson is a field hockey player known for her contributions to the United States team. Born on March 17, 2000, in the United States, she made headlines during the 2016-2017 Hockey World League Semifinals in Johannesburg, South Africa by scoring the winning goal in a penalty shootout against Germany.
Matson’s passion for field hockey began in 2006 and has since led her to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her dedication and talent were recognized when she won the Honda Sports Award as the nation’s top collegiate field hockey player in 2019-2020.
Athleticism runs in Matson’s family as both her mother Jill and father Brian were college athletes who played softball, field hockey, and baseball at prestigious universities. She also has a brother named Sean.
