About Erica Wheeler
Erica Wheeler is an American basketball player, born on May 2, 1991. She has played for the Atlanta Dream and the Los Angeles Sparks of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Wheeler made her WNBA debut in 2015 and gained attention by appearing in an Adidas promotion.
Before her professional career, she attended Rutgers University. In 2020, Wheeler tested positive for COVID-19 and suffered health complications including fluid buildup around her heart. This resulted in her missing the entire 2020 season and being cleared to resume playing only in October that year. She later signed with Turkey’s Izmit Belediyespor.
In a tragic turn of events, Erica lost her mother to cancer before entering her senior year of college.
