About Erica Jong
Erica Jong is an American novelist born on March 26, 1942 in New York City, New York. She became known for her frank sexual content in her debut novel, Fear of Flying, and has continued to create notable works such as Shylock’s Daughter (1987) and Seducing the Demon (2006).
Prior to her literary success, Jong developed a love for reading and writing poetry during her upbringing. She pursued an education in literature at Columbia University before publishing Fear of Flying in 1973.
Jong’s writing broke ground by openly addressing women’s sexual desires. Throughout her life she was married four times between 1963 and 1989. With her third husband, Jonathan Fast, she had a daughter named Molly.
