About Emma Embury
Emma Embury, born on February 25, 1806 in New York, was an American novelist remembered for her works of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. She is best known for Guido: A Tale (1828) and The Waldorf Family: or, Grandfather’s Legend (1848). In her teenage years, she wrote numerous stories for the New York Mirror. Poems of Emma C. Embury was published six years after her death.
Emma Embury was the child of Elizabeth Post and James Manley and spent her youth in New York City. In the late 1820s she married banker Daniel Embury.
