About Emily Russell
Emily Russell was an Englishwoman who received the title of Baroness Ampthill and was appointed to the Royal Order of Victoria and Albert. She served as The Lady of the Bedchamber, a personal attendant of the British Queen, from 1885 to 1901.
Born Lady Emily Theresa Villiers in England on September 9, 1843, she was the daughter of the 4th Earl of Clarendon. In 1868, she married Odo Russell, son of Lord George Russell, with whom she had six children between 1869 and 1879.
Before her fame as Queen’s Lady Bedchamber, Emily served as a bridesmaid at Princess Alexandra of Denmark‘s wedding to Edward, Prince of Wales in 1863.
