About Eloise Greenfield
Eloise Greenfield is an American children’s author born on May 17, 1929, in Parmele, North Carolina. She is best known for presenting a realistic and positive view of modern African-American communities.
Before pursuing her career as a writer, Greenfield attended Miner Teachers College but later opted to work at the Post Office after realizing that teaching was not her calling.
In 1976, she received the Coretta Scott King Award for her novel “Africa Dream.” Eloise was married to Steve and they had one daughter named Monica.
