Ellen Ochoa, born on May 10, 1958 in Los Angeles, California is a former astronaut known for being the first Hispanic woman in space. Following her career as an astronaut, she served as the Director of the Johnson Space Center. Ochoa earned a doctorate in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1985 and flew on four space missions. In 2013, she assumed the role of director at the Johnson Space Center. She is married to Coe Fulmer Miles and has one son.
