Elizabeth Spriggs was an English movie actress, born on September 18, 1929. She is best known for her BAFTA-nominated role as Mrs. Jennings in the 1995 film Sense and Sensibility. Her notable work also includes appearances in the television series Shine on Harvey Moon and the 1994 miniseries adaptation of Middlemarch.
Before launching her acting career, she trained at the Royal College of Music and worked as a drama teacher before joining repertory companies in Bristol and Birmingham, England.
In addition to her screen roles, Spriggs had a successful stage career with performances in numerous Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) productions.
Born Elizabeth Jean Williams in Buxton, Derbyshire, England, she was married three times and had a daughter named Wendy from her first marriage. After divorces from Kenneth Spriggs and Marshall Jones, she spent three decades married to Murray Manson.
Spriggs passed away on July 2nd, 2008 at age 78
