About Edna St.vincent Millay
Edna St. Vincent Millay was a renowned poet born on February 22, 1892, in Maine. She became the third woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 1923 for her work “The Ballad of the Harp-Weaver”. Prior to gaining fame, she had her prose published in magazines like St. Nicholas, The Camden Herald, and the anthology Current Literature while still a teenager.
Notably, her poem “Renascence” was entered into a poetry contest called The Lyric Year where it gained recognition despite being ranked fourth; many believed it should have actually won. Millay came from a family of three sisters named Norma Lounella and Kathleen Kalloch.
