About E Nesbit
E Nesbit, born on August 15, 1858, in England, was a renowned children’s author and political activist. Writing under the gender-neutral pen name of E. Nesbit, she published over three dozen works for children during her career.
Before gaining fame as an author, Nesbit traveled extensively throughout England and France due to her sister’s poor health. Additionally, she co-founded the Fabian Society, a Marxist organization and embarked on a socialist-themed lecture tour during the 1880s.
Family-wise, she married Hubert Bland in 1880 and had four children – one biological and three adopted – after discovering that her friend Alice Hoatson had been impregnated by Bland.
