Doris Roberts (November 4, 1925 – April 17, 2016) was an Emmy Award-winning TV actress known for her role as Marie Barone on the hit sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond.
Roberts was born in St. Louis, Missouri and began her acting career after training at HB Studio in New York City. She earned acclaim for her performance in Madea’s Witness Protection and won fans with her portrayal of Raymond’s overbearing yet lovable mother.
Outside of acting, she had a son with her husband Michael Cannata, whom she married in 1956.
