She was regarded as the most successful Filipino female artist of the 1990s by Viva Entertainment. Prior to her fame, Cruz participated in child beauty pageants and achieved grand finalist status in the Little Miss Philippines pageant. A notable achievement for Cruz was her quadruple Platinum certified album, which featured a collection of movie theme songs. In her personal life, she married Yong Larrazabal and together they have three children.
