About Disha Vakani
Disha Vakani, born on August 17, 1978 in Ahmedabad, India, is a prominent TV actress. She is best known for her portrayal of Daya Jethalal Gada in the popular Indian television series Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Additionally, she has appeared in several Bollywood films including Devdas and Love Story 2050.
Prior to gaining fame, Vakani studied drama at the Gujarat Arts & Sciences College in Ahmedabad and took part in numerous theatrical productions. Notably, she received consecutive Indian Television Academy Awards in 2008 and 2009.
Coming from a family with a strong theater background—her father was a renowned theater actor—Vakani grew up in the western Gujarat state of India. Her brother Mayur Vakani also appeared alongside her as her character’s brother on the show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. In 2015, Disha married Mayur.
