About Diana Taurasi
Diana Taurasi, born on June 11, 1982 in Glendale, California, is a notable basketball player known for her successful career in the WNBA. She achieved fame as a guard leading the University of Connecticut to three NCAA Championships before being drafted first overall by the Phoenix Mercury in 2004.
During her high school career at Don Antonio Lugo High School in California, Taurasi received several prestigious awards including the 2000 Naismith National High School Player Award and the 1999 and 2000 Ms. Basketball State Player of the Year Awards.
Taurasi’s professional accomplishments include leading the Phoenix Mercury to WNBA Championships in 2007 and 2009 while also being named WNBA MVP and Finals MVP in 2009. She was selected to five WNBA All-Star teams between 2005 and 2011 and led the league in scoring five times during that same stretch.
Her father, Mario, was a professional soccer player; she has an older sister named Jessika. In addition, she married former teammate Penny Taylor in 2017 and they welcomed their son Leo in March of2018.
