About Diana Sands
Diana Sands was an African-American actress and member of the Actors Studio. She was born on August 22, 1934 in New York City, New York. Sands is known for her appearances in the theatrical and film versions of A Raisin in the Sun.
Before fame, she performed in the Actors Studio’s production of Blues for Mr. Charlie and appeared in several episodes of television shows like The Fugitive, I Spy, and Outer Limits.
In addition to her work on screen, Sands also received a Tony Award nomination for her role in the 1964 Broadway production of The Owl and the Pussycat.
She was briefly married to Swiss artist Lucien Happersberger.
