About Denise Austin
Denise Austin, born on February 13, 1957 in San Pedro, California, is an American fitness instructor, author and former gymnast. She previously served on the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. Denise gained popularity as the host of the long-running ESPN exercise show Getting Fit with Denise Austin and has authored several fitness-related books including Pilates for Every Body and Shrink Your Female Fat Zones.
Before her successful career as a fitness expert, Denise attended the University of Arizona on an athletic scholarship before earning degrees in physical education and exercise physiology from California State University, Long Beach.
With over 100 fitness videos and DVD’s to her name, Denise was inducted into the Video Hall of Fame in 2003. In April 1983 she married sports agent Jeff Austin with whom she has daughters named Katie and Kelly.
