Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters (born June 28, 1995) is a South African beauty pageant contestant. She is best known for being crowned Miss Universe in 2017 after claiming the title of Miss South Africa earlier that same year.
Before her pageant success, she attended North-West University in South Africa where she studied business management. Nel-Peters also began instructing self-defense workshops following a carjacking incident.
