About Demetria Obilor
Demetria Obilor (born March 29, 1991) is a journalist and Traffic Ensemble Anchor known for her work on ABC’s Channel 8 in Dallas, Texas. She gained widespread attention in 2017 when her response to being body-shamed on Facebook went viral.
Obilor was born in Kansas City, Missouri and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Kansas. During her time at the university, she worked as a production tech for KSHB-TV before becoming their traffic reporter.
Prior to joining Channel 8 in Dallas, Texas, she served as a traffic reporter for KLAS-TV in Las Vegas, Nevada. Obilor comes from a mixed cultural background; her mother is white while her father is Nigerian. Additionally, she has three brothers, one of whom is named Uzoma.
