Debra Granik is an independent film director known for her impactful work in the industry. She was born on February 6, 1963, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Granik gained recognition for her exceptional direction of Winter’s Bone, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. Her debut feature film, Down to the Bone (2004), also earned her acclaim by securing the Sundance Dramatic Directing Award.
Prior to her filmmaking career, Granik pursued a degree in politics at Brandeis University and later attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts for their film program.
