Dawn Wells (born October 18, 1938) is an American actress best known for her role as Mary Ann Summers in the television series Gilligan’s Island. Born in Reno, Nevada, Wells gained fame through her portrayal of the girl-next-door character on the show.
Before rising to stardom, she competed in beauty pageants and was named Miss Nevada. In addition to her acting career, she became involved in running a boot camp for actors later on.
Wells made her TV debut in a 1961 episode of The Everglades where she played the character Piney. She also married Larry Rosen from 1962 to 1967.
