About Darlene Love
Darlene Love, born on July 26, 1941 in Los Angeles, California, is a renowned R&B singer with a multifaceted career. She gained recognition as a member of The Crystals and The Blossoms, as well as Bobb B. Soxx & the Blue Jeans. Additionally, she made her mark as a successful backup singer for music legends such as Elvis Presley and Dionne Warwick.
In 1995 she received the Rhythm and Blues Foundation’s Pioneer Award and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.
Prior to her fame, Love began singing in a church choir in Hawthorne, California before joining The Blossoms during her high school years in 1957.
Love was also one of the subjects of the critically acclaimed documentary “20 Feet from Stardom,” which won an Oscar in 2013. Notably, her song “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” has garnered more than 200 million streams on Spotify.
In terms of family life, Love married Alton Allison in 1984 after initially dating Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers. Her father is Reverend Joe Wright.
