Daniela Sea, born on January 7, 1977 in Malibu, California, is a TV actress best known for her role as Max Sweeney on the Showtime TV series The L Word. She joined the show in its third season. Before pursuing acting, she left her family at age 16 to move to Berkeley, where she became involved with the Gilman Street Project music collective and studied improvisational acting at Laney College. Following travels through Europe and Asia, she settled in New York City to pursue her passion.
Sea provided an audition reel to a friend working on The L Word writing staff which ultimately led to her being cast. Additionally, she has served as a member of the band B**** and the Exciting Conclusion and toured nationally with them. Post-L Word, Sea has appeared in various film and TV projects including Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Born and raised in Malibu, Sea’s family life was marked by her father coming out as gay when she was young; later her step-father moved their family to Hawaii during her youth.
