About Corrie Ten Boom
Corrie Ten Boom (1892-04-15) was a Dutch memoirist, best known for her book “The Hiding Place,” which chronicles her family’s efforts to hide Jews during the Holocaust and her subsequent imprisonment by the Nazis. Prior to gaining recognition as an author, she made history in 1924 as the first licensed female watchmaker in the Netherlands.
Following her experiences in a concentration camp due to helping Jews escape persecution, Ten Boom founded a rehabilitation center for Holocaust survivors. She hailed from a large family consisting of two sisters – Betsie and Nollie – and a brother named Willem.
