About Clementine Nzuji
Clementine Nzuji is a prominent African poet and the first notable female writer from the Belgian Congo. She was born on January 21, 1944, in the DR Congo.
She graduated from the University of Lovanium before earning an advanced degree in African Studies from the University of Paris. Her literary works include Murmures, Les temps des amants, and Lianes.
Nzuji also played a significant role as one of the founders of the International Centre for African Languages, Literatures and Traditions in Favour of Development. As a Bantu literature and linguistics scholar, she made substantial contributions to this field.
In her personal life, Nzuji married and had five children; many family members feature prominently in her literary works.
