About Clare Nancy Russell
Clare Nancy Russell, born on August 4, 1944 in Scotland, was a Scottish noblewoman known for her roles as The Lady Laird of Ballindalloch Castle and the first female Lord Lieutenant of Banffshire. She was the daughter of Sir Ewan George Macpherson-Grant, the 6th Baronet of Ballindalloch, and inherited her father’s castle and estate upon his death in 1983.
Russell had an active presence in philanthropy, serving on the board of the Children’s Hospice Association of Scotland beginning in 1986. She shared a family with her husband Oliver Henry Russell – they welcomed two sons and a daughter between 1968 and 1972.
