About Claire Sweeney
Claire Sweeney was born on April 17, 1971, in England. She is known for her role as Lindsey Corkhill in the Channel 4 soap opera Brookside, where she appeared in more than 1600 episodes. In addition to her soap opera work, she played Hayley Cox in the TV series Scarborough.
Prior to gaining fame as an actress, Sweeney auditioned for a part in Centre Stage Company’s Chicago in 1987 but was initially turned down due to being seen as too young. Undeterred, she eventually secured the same role on the West End.
Sweeney has made various television appearances post-Brookside including Celebrity Big Brother during a charity special and shows like 60 Minute Makeover and I’m Famous and Frightened!
In her personal life, Sweeney had a six-year relationship with businessman Tony Hibbard before becoming engaged to a man 14 years younger than herself. They welcomed a son together in 2014 but ultimately parted ways the following year.
