Cherie Currie (born November 30, 1959) is a pop singer, songwriter, and actress from California. She gained fame as the lead vocalist of the 1970s all-woman band The Runaways and released the single “Since You Been Gone” with her sister in 1979.
Prior to her music career, Currie struggled with drug addiction after joining The Runaways at age fifteen. The band’s song “Cherry Bomb” was written for her during her audition.
Following her music career, she transitioned into becoming a counselor in drug and psych facilities. In 2010, she published a memoir titled “Neon Angel,” drawing from her experiences as a rock star.
Currie has twin sister Marie and another sister named Sondra who is an actress.
