Charlotte Wells Feet

Charlotte Wells (born June 13, 1987) is a Scottish director, writer, and producer known for her feature film debut, Aftersun. The coming-of-age drama about a father-daughter relationship premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival to critical acclaim.

That same year she won numerous awards for her directing. Prior to Aftersun, Wells directed three short films and pursued a dual Master of Fine Arts and Master of Business Administration at the Tisch School of the Arts and the Stern School.

She wrote and directed three short films while at New York University and was also a fellow at the 2020 Sundance Institute Screenwriters and Directors Labs.Wells’ inspiration for Aftersun came from looking through a family album where she realized how young her father was when she was born.
