Celia Birtwell (born March 22, 1941) is an English fashion designer known for her romantic designs inspired by artists like Picasso and Matisse. She received her formal design education at the Salford School of Art. In 1968, it was revealed that she was artist David Hockney’s muse and even appeared in his celebrated painting “Mr and Mrs Clark and Percy.” Birtwell is married to Ossie Clark, with whom she has two children: George and Albert.
