About Cecile Richards
Cecile Richards is an American activist born on July 15, 1957, in Waco, Texas. She is best known for her tenure as the head of Planned Parenthood, which began in 2006. Aside from her work at Planned Parenthood, she has been involved in various political roles and identifies as a registered Democrat.
Richards grew up as the daughter of Ann Richards, who was a former governor of Texas. After graduating with a degree in History from Brown University in 1980, she went on to serve as deputy chief of staff to US Representative Nancy Pelosi while Pelosi was serving as the Democratic Leader in the US House of Representatives.
In addition to her professional achievements, Richards was recognized by TIME Magazine as one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World” in 2012. She married Kirk Adams and together they have three children; since 2009, they have resided in New York City.
