About Catherine McKenna
Catherine McKenna is a Canadian liberal politician, best known for her role as the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change and as a Member of the Canadian Parliament for Ottawa Centre. Born on August 5, 1971 in Hamilton, Canada, McKenna was raised by her parents: Irish dentist John McKenna and Quebec native Pat McKenna.
Prior to entering politics, Catherine McKenna pursued a career as a human rights and social justice lawyer. She also co-founded the charity Canadian Lawyers Abroad. Additionally, she taught at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs.
In her personal life, Catherine married writer and entrepreneur Scott Gilmore. Together they have one son and two daughters.
