About Catherine Lim
Catherine Lim is a Malaysian-born Singaporean novelist born on March 21, 1942. She is best known for her literary works that delve into the roles of women in traditional Chinese society. Some of her notable novels include The Serpent’s Tooth and Leap of Love.
Before pursuing a career in writing, Lim obtained a PhD in applied linguistics from the National University of Singapore. She later received a Fulbright scholarship to attend The University of California, Berkeley and Columbia University.
In 1994, Lim stirred controversy with the publication of an editorial titled “The PAP and the people – A Great Affective Divide.”
Limb was born in Malaysia but emigrated to Singapore at the age of twenty-five.
