Caroline B. Cooney, born on May 10, 1947, in Geneva, New York, is an American young-adult author known for her work in the fantasy and historical fiction genres. She was nominated for an Edgar Allen Poe Award for her novel Diamonds in the Shadow.
Prior to gaining recognition as a writer, Cooney had her first novel Safe as the Grave published in 1979. Following this success, she continued to publish numerous works over the subsequent years.
In addition to standalone novels, Cooney has also written several book series including the Janie Johnson series and the Losing Christina series.
She spent her formative years growing up in Greenwich, Connecticut after being born in Geneva, New York.
