About Carol Todd
Carol Todd (born April 4, 1978) is a family member known for her advocacy work in the realm of anti-bullying awareness and mental health support. She is widely recognized as the mother of Amanda Todd, a teenager who tragically fell victim to cyberbullying and died by suicide in British Columbia, Canada in 2012.
After her daughter’s passing, Todd founded the Amanda Todd Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting anti-bullying initiatives and providing assistance to young people dealing with mental health issues. Additionally, she has been active as a classroom educator.
Todd pursued higher education at the University of British Columbia where she graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree in 1984. Notably in January 2022, she successfully fought against a publication ban that previously limited her ability to share her daughter’s story.
In recognition of her efforts, Todd received accolades such as the Me to We Award for Social Action, the Jer’s Vision Award for Advocacy and the Roz Prober Award. Furthermore, she initiated the Light Up Purple campaign in 2013.
Throughout these experiences Carol has navigated personal challenges related to family life; when Amanda was in seventh grade she moved in with her father.
