Carol Maraj, born on December 24, 1959 in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago, is a World Music Singer known for being the mother of superstar rapper Nicki Minaj. She is also the mother to Minaj’s siblings Micaiah, Brandon, and Jelani. Carol Maraj has had a varied career that includes being a gospel singer, songwriter and playwright.
Prior to her fame as Nicki Minaj‘s mother, Carol Maraj faced challenges as she moved to America with her husband in search of work and housing for their family while leaving Nicki under the care of her grandmother at five years old. In terms of professional experience outside of music and entertainment industry pursuits, she has worked as an accounting clerk, foreign exchange teller at the National Commercial Bank, and nursing assistant.
Carol Maraj was raised in Saint James where she was among eleven children; she married Robert Maraj when she was twenty years old.
