Candy Mel, born on December 14, 1990 in Brazil, is a world music singer best known for her work as a member of the popular tecnobrega act Banda Uo. She and the band have produced major hits including “Catraca,” “Da1LIKE” and “Arregacada.” Prior to gaining fame with Banda Uo, Candy Mel met the other members on the nightclub scene in Goiania, Brazil and later left fashion school to join the band in Sao Paulo.
Notably, she was selected by cosmetics company Avon to star in their “Outubro Rosa” campaign where she became the first trans woman to receive this honor. Born as Mel Goncalves, Candy Mel continues to make waves in Brazilian music industry.
