Candice Bergen is an American television actress, born on May 9, 1946 in Beverly Hills, California. She is the daughter of ventriloquist Edgar Bergen and rose to fame for her role as the title character in CBS’s “Murphy Brown.” In addition to her television work, she was nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal of Jessica in “Starting Over.”
Prior to achieving success as an actress, Candice Bergen appeared on her father’s radio shows and made guest appearances on televised programs such as Groucho Marx’s quiz show “You Bet Your Life.” During her youth, people often referred to her as Charlie McCarthy’s little sister – a reference to her father’s famous ventriloquist dummy.
