About Brigitte Lacombe
Brigitte Lacombe is a French photographer born on December 23, 1950 in Ales, France. She is renowned for her portraiture work which has been featured in notable publications including Vanity Fair, Vogue, The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar and Glamour. Additionally, her photography has been used in advertising campaigns for Dior and she has documented film sets for directors such as Martin Scorsese, Spike Jonze and Sam Mendes.
Prior to gaining recognition as a photographer, one of Lacombe’s first jobs was working at the black and white lab of Elle Magazine in Paris after leaving school. In 1975 at the Cannes Film Festival,she met Dustin Hoffman and Donald Sutherland which led to her beginning to photograph film sets.
In an interview with Time magazine in 2015,Lacombe shared that she considers her “most important” photograph to be of Meryl Streep for a 1988 cover story in Interview magazine
Originally from France, Lacombe is now based in New York City.
