Brenda Martinez, born on September 8, 1987 in Upland, California, is an American middle-distance runner known for her success in various competitions. She achieved a major milestone by winning gold at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston in 2015.
Martinez set a new world record with a time of 10:42.57 in the distance medley relay during that event. Before gaining recognition as a top athlete, she graduated from Rancho Cucamonga High School in 2005 and later competed for the University of California, Riverside.
In 2012, Martinez made her debut representing Team USA at the World Indoor Championships held in Istanbul, Turkey. She is married to former runner Carlos Handler.
